Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Tight security in place as voting underway in Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency

48 hours after an IED explosion rocked Manipur, voting for phase 2 of Lok Sabha elections kicked off on April 26 at 7 am amidst tight security. 

The Outer Manipur seat sees a contest between Naga People's Front's (NPF) K Timothy Zimik, Congress's Alfred K Arthur and independent candidates Alyson Abonmei and S Kho John.

The 15 Assembly segments of Outer Manipur PC had already voted on April 19, along with the 32 Assembly segments of Inner Manipur PC.

Currently, polling is in progress at 848 polling stations across 13 Assembly segments in eight districts of Outer Manipur PC, namely Ukhrul, Kamjong, Teng-noupal, Tamenglong, Noney, Senapati, Jiribam and Pherzawl, from 7 am to 4 pm.

Senior citizens and specially-abled voters are turning up at polling booths with the assistance of volunteers to cast their votes.
