Mizoram's Director General of Police, Anil Shukla, sheds light on the comprehensive security measures in place for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Given Mizoram's extensive borders, stretching approximately 500 kilometers along Myanmar and 320 kilometers along Bangladesh, the senior cop has shed light on the additional precautions put in place along the border areas due to the impending polls.
Border security forces, including Assam Rifles and BSF, have been briefed on the significance of these borders, with special checkpoints and mobile barricades deployed to deter the smuggling of contraband such as drugs and alcohol.
As the polling date draws nearer, the borders will be sealed, not only with Myanmar and Bangladesh but also with neighboring states like Assam, Tripura, and Manipur. Close coordination with law enforcement counterparts in these states ensures a synchronized effort towards maintaining peace and order during the election on the 19th of the month.
Extensive preparations extend to polling stations as well, with meticulous arrangements made for the deployment and transportation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Traffic management and enhanced security protocols are integral components of these arrangements to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
Furthermore, VIP security is a priority, with protection provided to individuals according to their designated security levels. Visiting dignitaries receive requisite security protocols to ensure their safety during their time in Mizoram.
