In a resounding victory for the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), Pintso Namgyal Lepcha secured a decisive win from the Djongu Assembly constituency. Expressing gratitude to his supporters, Lepcha attributed his success to the overwhelming backing from voters and the support of his party president.
Simultaneously, Chief Minister and SKM chief, Prem Singh Tamang, surged ahead in the electoral fray. Tamang, contesting from the Rhenock and Soreng-Chakung seats, currently leads on both fronts.
With SKM dominating the electoral count, leading on 29 seats out of the total 32 Assembly seats, the party inches closer to a comfortable majority in the Sikkim Assembly. The majority mark stands at 17 seats.
The momentum in SKM's favor continued with Loknath Sharma, another SKM candidate, taking the lead in the Gyalshing Barnyak Constituency after the latest round of counting.
Further amplifying SKM's triumph, Sonam Lama emerged victorious in the fiercely contested 32-Sangha Assembly Constituency election. The final round of vote counting, conducted in Mangan district, solidified Lama's win after a tense electoral showdown.
In the decisive third round, Sonam Lama clinched a total of 238 votes, propelling his cumulative tally to 579 votes.
