Trinamool running a government of anarchy in Bengal: Tripura CM Manik Saha on Nandigram incident

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on May 23 expressed deep sorrow and also condemned the incident where a BJP worker died after miscreants attacked few houses in Nandigram on May 22.

In response to the killing of a BJP worker in Nandigram, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said, "It is a matter of great sadness. This is a government of anarchy, and the party is no different. They have inherited this behavior from the Communists... I condemn this, and the culprits should be arrested at the earliest," stated Saha.

The incident has sparked significant unrest among BJP workers in Nandigram. BJP workers organized protests and blocked roads following the death of a party member in an attack on several houses the previous night, May 22.

Local BJP members allege that the attack was perpetrated by workers of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Tensions erupted in Nandigram, located in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district, following the fatal attack on a female BJP worker and injuries to seven others on Wednesday night, just days before the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

In response to the violence, BJP supporters took to the streets on Thursday, May 23 setting shops ablaze and blocking roads with felled trees and fires. This led to a significant increase in security measures, with the deployment of the Rapid Action Force and central forces alongside the local police.

Despite the heightened security, police sources confirmed that no arrests have been made yet.

The incident has ignited a political blame game, with the BJP accusing the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of orchestrating the attack. In contrast, the ruling party has denied these allegations, attributing the violence to internal conflicts within the local BJP ranks.
