Good news for Assamese cineastes as 'Protyush (Ushering a Crack of Dawn)' directed by Assam Filmmaker Arindam Barooah is earning laurels nationwide.
The film mainly depicts the hardships faced by a poverty-stricken family after the sole bread earner dies an untimely death, and after his death her wife struggling against the poverty and her fight back to give a good life and raise her two school going children's and the story runs around the women, as the society offers her two choices either to succumb her miseries or to make her children’s work to get over the poor economic conditions.
Now, the woman must choose whether to take their advice or take up a bigger challenge which will go on to out rightly reject the societal norms of rural India.
Arindam with his team was able to make the film a very emotional one that touched several hearts and it also showed the norms and culture of the present society.
Main Cast: Jahnobi Gogoi, Kironmoyee Borah, Rishav Ritam Gogoi Manash Protim Chetia in the lead roles.
Supporting Cast: Anisha Dutta, Anupam Dutta, Nayan Jyoti Deka, Jyoti Dutta and Karabi Dutta whose roles add various layers to the narration of the film.
The cinematography by Rishika Baruah, Bhaskar Jyoti Dutta and Prabhat Das and effective background score by Kukil Pratim Saikia and Gaurav Rabha will also play a significant role in bringing to life the message of the film.
Arindam was awarded Special Festival Mention for the short film at the prestigious 9th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2019 which was held on 30th April 2019 in Delhi.
Apparently, from the Special Festival Mention, Protyush has been awarded Best Short Film, Best Director & Best Editor at Borluit Short Film Festival, 2019 in Jorhat and has earned an invitation screening at Cinema Utsav, 2019 at Dhemaji other than being screened at Filmgatha 2019 in Guwahati.
