Assam director Shiladitya Bora’s ‘Bhagwan Bharose’ wins best film award at UK Asian Film Festival

Director and producer Shiladitya Bora, who was born in Assam, won the best film award at the UK Asian Film Festival in 2023 for her feature film debut, "Bhagwan Bharose".

The Hindi-language coming-of-age drama, based on a story by Sudhakar Neelmani, will serve as the closing film at the festival on May 13 at the Kiln Theatre in North West London, a press release stated.

The plot centres on Satendra Soni and Sparsh Suman, two impressionable young people who struggle with their perceptions of God and religion in India in the 1990s. 

Vinay Pathak, Masumeh Makhija, Manurishi Chaddha, Shrikant Verma, Sawan Tank, and Krishna Singh Bisht are also featured in the movie. Sri Lankan director Prasanna Vithanage, Bora and Shilpi Agarwal of Platoon One Films, Milapsinh Jadeja and Sanyukta Gupta of Lighthouse Innoventures, and KK Radhamohan of Sri Sathya Sai Arts are all co-producers of the film.
