At least 24 individuals including an Indonesian national died after a mob set fire to Zabeer hotel in Bangladesh's Joshor district on August 5, as per reports.
This incident is part of a larger wave of violence following the sudden resignation and departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
According to reports, the victims were primarily guests staying at the hotel owned by Shahin Chakkladar, the general secretary of the district Awami League. The fire was ignited by an unidentified group targeting the hotel's ground floor. The flames rapidly engulfed the building, trapping those inside and leading to a devastating loss of life.

Reports from Dhaka indicate that the charred remains of 24 victims were recovered by doctors at Joshor General Hospital. It is feared that additional bodies may still be found within the ruins of the hotel.
The violence that led to this tragedy is part of a broader unrest that has engulfed Bangladesh since Prime Minister Hasina's resignation and flight from the country. Her departure triggered widespread chaos, with enraged mobs vandalizing the properties of Awami League leaders and activists nationwide, including the party's central office on Dhaka's Bangabandhu Avenue.
In response to the escalating violence and political vacuum, the military has stepped in to restore order. However, the situation remains volatile, with continued outbreaks of violence and unrest across the nation, highlighting the deep-seated political tensions and instability currently facing Bangladesh.
