In the wake of the dispute arising out of the erection of border pillar No. 81 allegedly well inside Manipur, a team of senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Surveyor General of India visited site at Kwatha Khunou in Tengnoupal district.
The officials interacted with the locals, representatives of political parties and members of civil society organizations of Manipur and assured that they were examining the issue with all seriousness.
The team visited the site after Chief Minister N Biren Singh had recently urged the Central government to send a team to conduct a survey on the positions of subsidiary pillars between border pillar Nos 80 and 82, particularly the border pillar No 81 in the presence of all stakeholders.
