Following the incessant rainfall in the past few days and subsequent flooding in several parts of the district, the Deputy Commissioner Pawan Yadav acted immediately and provided relief materials including rice, oil, pulses and other items to the affected people sheltered in 3 different camps. The relief work distribution was assisted by N. Gojendro Meitei, ADC, Sanasam Dhiren, SDC/Nambol, Ng. Jayenta Singh, CMO, AE/ PHED and other officials from the district administration.
In view of the incessant rainfall occurring in the district, the Deputy Commissioner has also advised the general public not to venture out to any water sources and to remain alert at all times to minimize losses occurring due to the rain. He also issued instructions to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to be fully prepared and to be on standby mode round the clock to meet any eventuality in consultation with all the SDOs, SDCs and concerned Armed Forces in the area. He also requested the people to inform any incident of landslide/flood to the DDMA to facilitate immediate response.
It may be mentioned that district administration has set up relief camps at Nambol Sabal Leikai, Nambol Awang and Maibam Chingmang and gives shelter to 21, 26 and 20 households respectively.
