On the final day of Manipur Assembly session on Monday, Chief Minister N Biren Singh appealed to the members to uphold and protect the state’s territorial integrity.
Singh said the statement had been made as there was apprehension among people following the report of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Framework Agreement.
Regarding his recent meeting with interlocutor in Naga peace talks RN Ravi, Singh said though the former assured the state delegates that the agreement would not harm Manipur’s territorial integrity, there was a need to consult stakeholders in Manipur besides Assam and Arunachal Pradesh before signing the final agreement.
“Time has come for the leaders of the House to unite to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state,” the CM insisted.
Speaker Y Khemchand Singh reaffirmed the stand of the House to safeguard Manipur’s territorial integrity. He said the Assembly proceedings would be available in Meitei Mayek along with Manipuri, Bengali and English from next year.
