14 July 2018:

The recovery of eight suspected World War II bombs in a Manipur village and their subsequent carriage by a man to his house has sent the police into a tizzy.

The police are now trying to cordon off the man’s house fearing that they could explode.

In a message to Superintendent of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (Technical), O Kiran Singh, officer-in-charge of Irilbung police station, said a team of the police, led by sub-inspector P Poujeanlung, inspected the site and instructed the locals to stay away from the area as the bombs could explode.

Singh requested the SP of CID to send a team of bomb expert to the area for safe disposal.

The bombs were found in the paddy field of one SD Sekhosom Chiru of Waithou Chiru village on Friday and dug out by the locals. Later, they were taken away to the house of one Awungshi Dickson who is a resident of SamanTangkhul village under Irilbung police station.
