Assam Rifles assists in sports infrastructure development in Manipur's Tharon village

Assam Rifles extended significant support in developing the infrastructure of Tharon, a remote village in Manipur's Taenglong district, on October 22-23. The initiative aimed to enhance community facilities, particularly for the youth, while addressing local health and environmental challenges.

One of the key undertakings was the upgrade of the village football ground, a vital hub for sports and a place of recreation for the local youth and sports enthusiasts. Assam Rifles facilitated the clearance of debris to expand and improve the ground, which will now serve as a venue for local football tournaments. This upgrade aims to encourage active participation in sports, providing a constructive outlet for young people in the area.

Additionally, Assam Rifles contributed to the construction of a drainage system adjacent to the football ground. This infrastructure will help mitigate the risk of flooding and support the prevention of waterborne diseases, which are common concerns in the village, especially during the monsoon season.

The villagers, along with local authorities, expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the assistance, noting the positive impact of the upgraded infrastructure. They emphasized that the timely support has not only inspired the youth but has also strengthened the community's trust and confidence in the security forces, despite the challenges posed by the village's remote location.
