Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra entered its second day from Sekmai in Manipur's Imphal West district on Monday. The Yatra will progress from Sekmai to Kangpokpi and Senapati in Manipur, before halting in Nagaland for the night.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh announced the commencement of the day's journey with a flag hoisting by Seva Dal and PCC President of Manipur, Keisham Meghachandra.
Supriya Shrinate, the party's social media representative, called for unity against issues like unemployment, inflation, poverty, crime, and insecurity. The yatra, flagged off by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi from Thoubal, Manipur on Sunday, is set to cover over 6,700 kilometres across 110 districts in 67 days.
Party leaders and workers observed a moment of silence for the victims of state violence prior to the commencement of the yatra. On Sunday, Rahul Gandhi stated that the initiation of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is aimed at delivering justice to the people who are currently enduring a time of 'great injustice' in the nation.
The Congress leader expressed strong criticism towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his absence in the ethnically conflicted state, labelling it as 'shameful' that the country's PM did not visit to console the affected populace.
