The District Administration of Senapati, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS, continued its rigorous efforts to restore and preserve the Senapati River through the ‘Clean Senapati River Campaign.’
A large-scale cleanliness drive was conducted today along the heavily polluted stretch from Senapati Bridge to Monday Market Bridge under the theme ‘Keep it clean, keep it flowing.’
The campaign saw the active participation of key officials, including Rang David Kung, MCS, ADM/ADC Senapati, Adahrii Maheo, MCS, ADC/CEO Senapati, and P. P. Ronald, MCS, Project Director, DRDA Senapati.
The operation focused on clearing black spot areas—sections of the river where excessive waste had accumulated. This effort also aimed to complete the unfinished portions of an earlier cleaning drive in the same area.
A massive turnout of approximately 500 volunteers, including district officials, staff from the Revenue Department, ADC, DRDA, and members of various civil society organizations such as the Senapati District Students Association (SDSA), Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC), Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM), Maralui Karailimai Swuijoikang (MKS), and Zeliangrong Students Union (ZSU), actively participated in the drive. Local youth clubs and residents also joined forces to ensure the long-term cleanliness of the river.

By the end of the drive, over 20 tonnes of mixed waste had been successfully collected and disposed of at a designated site by the Karong Senapati Town Committee. The District Administration has further instructed local authorities and youth organizations to maintain strict vigilance to prevent future pollution of the river.
The ‘Clean Senapati River Campaign’ is an ambitious initiative aimed at restoring and preserving the Senapati River, which serves as the town’s lifeline. The campaign seeks to raise awareness, foster community engagement, and mobilize collective action against pollution.
It underscores the collaborative effort of the District Administration, ADC, KSTC, CSOs, village leaders, and volunteers, emphasizing the importance of sustainable river conservation practices.
Through consistent cleaning drives, social media outreach, and community participation, the initiative aims to ensure that the Senapati River remains a clean and sustainable water resource for future generations.
