Manipur CM's abusive "monkey" remark on Kukis needs serious attention from NDA govt says top tribal body

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh was allegedly seen making an abusive remark purportedly on the Kuki-Zo community while addressing the concluding program of Nari Shakti Vandhan at the state BJP office, or the Thambal Shanglen at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on March 6.

Following this, the Chief Minister's unrestrained and impetuous speech irked the Kuki-Zo populace after it went viral on social media.

In his speech, N Biren Singh allegedly talked about how the Meitei people had been driven out of Moreh, Kangpokpi, and Churachandpur by "Monkeys" impetuously referring to the Kuki-Zo community.

The Kuki-Zo top tribal body, the Committee on Tribal Unity, or the CoTU, Sadar Hills while expressing its appalled at the abusive remarks directed at the Kuki-Zo group, tagged the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh as the "Most Communal Chief Minister" of all Indian States.

Irked Kuki-Zo's top tribal body stated that it is ridiculous that the Manipur CM would disrespect the Kuki-Zo people by calling them monkeys while adding that any rational citizen would detest such immaturity and imbecility in a mature individual such as the communal Chief Minister, Biren Singh.

"It is also not only a blatant violation of human rights but an obvious demonstration of disrespect over his Chair as the state head", asserted Kaiminlen Sitlhou, Spokesperson of the CoTU.

He also said that Biren's words and actions are equally unsound and absurd, which is unbecoming of the head of the state and at this rate, it portends some major events where the state will soon crumble under his authoritarian rule.

He then opined that the Centre must intervene immediately to save the hard-earned image of the NDA Government before the lips of a fool Chief Minister swallowed it.

Wondering as to why the Chief Minister of Manipur openly declared that Manipur is the homeland of the Meitei people alone, the CoTU Spokesperson also asked if the Chief Minister had brought up the valley, which spans 700 square miles, that would have been acceptable to some degree.

Given that the Kukis have played active roles in the nation-building process, Sitlhou maintained that N Biren Singh's alleged genocidal crusade against the minority Kuki-Zo tribals under the pretext of "illegal immigrants" is illogical and not justified.

"Biren Singh must guard his mouth against impetuous and unrestrained speech, so that he may not harm himself and others with his words", he added.

The CoTU Spokesperson further alleged that under Biren Singh's anarchy, Manipur has been in turmoil, and peace and harmony are unattainable goals.

He said that while the rest of the world looks on in silence, such communal CM is using its ultimate authority to obliterate the Kuki-Zo people.

"The issue of when the Indian government would step in and put things right remains unanswered to this day", he lamented.

Why the Center has not exercised suo moto cognizance over the sufferings of the Kuki-Zo people and provided justice, as the Indian Constitution declares, asked the CoTU Spokesperson.
