The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) staged a protest rally, marching towards Raj Bhawan, demanding a resolution to the 19-month-long crisis in Manipur.
The protest was part of a nationwide agitation following instructions from the All India Congress Committee.
The rally commenced from Congress Bhawan, with most Congress MLAs and MPCC members joining. A large number of security forces stopped the rally at the Congress Bhawan gate. After a clash with the forces, some protestors managed to march towards Raj Bhawan.
Around 15 MPCC leaders, including MLAs, met with the Governor of Manipur, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, and submitted a memorandum regarding the Manipur crisis.

Addressing the media after a brief meeting with the Governor, MPCC President Keisham Meghachandra stated that the march was part of a nationwide protest and that a memorandum was submitted concerning the Manipur crisis. He mentioned that the Governor listened patiently to the issues raised.
"We, the Congress party, have detailed the suffering and pain endured by the people of Manipur due to the conflict. We even told him that the Congress party does not have any trust in the present government," he said.
When asked about the Governor’s response, Meghachandra said that the Governor promised to take steps to restore peace and normalcy. However, the Congress party remains sceptical about any action being taken. Regarding the Prime Minister's meeting with the Kapoor family and his absence in Manipur despite repeated requests, Meghachandra commented that the Prime Minister's lack of visit and response is a sign of sheer negligence.
"One family is more important than addressing the Manipur conflict," Meghachandra remarked on the Prime Minister's meeting with the Kapoor family.
The nationwide demonstration also highlighted issues concerning the BJP's policy to "defend" Gautam Adani.
