The medical fraternity in Manipur staged a sit-in protest, suspending OPD, IPD, OT, and diagnostic services for a day, to show solidarity with the nationwide protest against the brutal rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata.
Addressing to media, the MD of Shija Hospital, Dr Khundongbam Palin who is also president of the Association of HealthCare Providers (India) - Manipur Chapter (AHPI) said that the whole medical fraternity of Manipur strongly condemned the recent inhumane incident of brutal torture and murder incident to a lady doctor.
Emergency services remained operational. Dr Khundongbam Palin, MD of Shija Hospital and president of the Association of HealthCare Providers (India) - Manipur Chapter condemned the incident and called for justice for the victim.
Around 36 healthcare centres and hospitals in Manipur participated in the protest, organised by AHPI and the Indian Medical Association-Manipur State Branch.
Protestors held placards with messages such as 'Safety for Doctors, Safety for All,' 'Stand with the Medical Fraternity, Stand for Women’s Safety,' and 'Stop violence against women.'
