Manipur's Imphal, witnessed a wave of protests at the historic Khwairamband Ima Keithel on Saturday, November 16 over the kidnapping of the six people including children.
The marketplace, celebrated as Asia’s largest all-women market, became the epicenter of a mass protest. Vendors, alongside local residents, staged a protest at the market site, decrying the recent abduction and brutal killing of six individuals in Jiribam, which has sent shockwaves throughout the state.
Demonstrators expressed profound grief, demanding justice for the victims and highlighting their anguish over the incident.
Adding to their frustration was the recent decision to re-impose the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in six police jurisdictions across the state. Protesters emphasized that such measures, perceived as draconian, only deepen public discontent and fear.
