Manipur police detain missing man's wife, daughter, and member of Imagi Meira while heading towards Raj Bhawan

Aggrieved family members of Laishram Kamalbabu, who has been missing under mysterious circumstances, joined by civil society group Imagi Meira, staged a march toward Raj Bhawan today in a bid to meet the Governor. 

However, their progress was thwarted by security forces who imposed restrictions near Kangla Gate to prevent them from advancing further.  

In anticipation of the protest, police personnel blocked key roads leading to Raj Bhawan from three directions, creating a security cordon that lasted for several hours. This led to tense confrontations between the protesters and police personnel.

During the standoff, Kamalbabu’s wife and daughter, along with a member of Imagi Meira, were detained by the police.  

While the detained family members were later released, Imagi Meira leader Thokchom Sujata remains in custody. This has prompted members of the organization to storm the Women Police Station in Imphal West, demanding Sujata’s immediate release.
