Manipur students exhibit unique handmade items under Samagra Shiksha

Handmade items created by students of government schools were showcased today under the banner “State level unique selling proposition (USP) exhibition” 2023-2024 at the premises of Samagra Shiksha Manipur.

With the objective of becoming students skilled person and ensuring jobs after academic education, Samagra Shiksha provides skill programmes in government schools. 

The initiative was started under the sponsorship of the Unit of Science and Educational Development (UNICED) supported by Oil India Ltd as a CSR initiative. 

In the exhibition, students displayed items like soap, candles, bags, and dolls among others.

The headmaster in charge of Oinam Hills High School, Senapati, Pukeni said that the steps taken up by Samagra Shiksha to provide skill training to school-going children are appreciated. Such initiative would help to hone their skill in the early stage and become an economically independent person in future to provide skill training to their students.

Oinam Hill High School produced a doll made from waste corn husk and silk with the idea to convert waste to wealth. 

“We trained students of class 8-10 in making dolls from corn husk and silk which is abundantly available in my village. The students might not be too professional as it is in the initial stage. However, it can be refined by providing exclusive training by people who are experts in this field,” he said.

As a part of the programme patented school bags with educational desks and educational kits were distributed. 

UNISED assured of providing support and kits to children of Manipur which will help in transforming the educational and health landscape.
