Manipur: Students protest bomb threat at GP Women’s College, demand enhanced security

Students at GP Women’s College staged a protest today, condemning the recent bomb threat at their campus and demanding stronger security measures for educational institutions. The protest followed the discovery of a hand grenade at the college's main entrance on Monday, prompting an urgent call for authorities to safeguard schools and colleges from such threats.

The college, located near high-security areas such as the Raj Bhavan and the Chief Minister’s residence, has raised concerns about the ability of unknown miscreants to breach security and place a hand grenade on the premises. A student addressing the media questioned how such an incident could occur in a zone with heightened security and warned that the situation could be even more precarious for institutions located in less secure areas.

“Schools and colleges should be safe havens, free from violence and disruption,” she stated, emphasizing that students should be able to attend classes without fear of crime or conflict. She urged the government to take immediate and decisive action against those responsible to prevent future incidents.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motives behind the bomb threat and identify the culprits. The incident has sparked a renewed conversation about the need for enhanced security at educational institutions across the state, with students and faculty alike calling for stronger preventive measures to ensure their safety.
