The youths of Manipur are no longer able to bear the brunt of the ongoing crisis in Manipur which is set to complete five months today.
Condemning the government for their inability to restore complete peace in Manipur even after five months, hundreds of youths from the Khurai Assembly constituency staged mass silent protest rallies today.
Youth of the Khurai Assembly Constituency naming their joint body “Khurai Pana Naha sing” carried out the silent rally from YOSC Ground to Saramendra Ground stretches around 3 Km. At the end of the protest, two minutes of silence was observed as a mark of respect to departed souls who had lost their lives during the crisis.

The state government immediately imposed a curfew in some portions of the Khurai Assembly constituency so as to allegedly foil the protest. However, the protestors carried out the peaceful rally after delaying some from their scheduled timing which was fixed at 9 am. The silent protest rally was guarded by state security forces from the starting point till the end of the protest to prevent any untoward incident.
Addressing the media at the sidelines of the rally, one of the protestors said that the government not being able to bring complete peace and normalcy even after months of crisis is very unfortunate. The youth are no longer able to bear the brunt of the crisis as it affects their lives tremendously. The instability in the state for almost five months made them feel that their future was at stake and lost hope.
“Youth of Khurai assembly constituency voluntarily came out to carry out today’s silent protest as we have lost our courage to face the sufferings of the present crisis.
For the last five months, the people of the state have been demanding complete peace. However, the authority concerned is unable to translate it. We are symbolically wearing masks in protest to signify that we are literally tired of raising our voice to bring peace in the state from last five months,” she said.
"As such we would like to convey our demand through placard," she further stated.
She also strongly condemned the state government for their effort to thwart the protest by allegedly imposing a curfew in some portions of the Khurai assembly constituency.
“The state government should try to understand why youth has come out to the street and carry out protest instead of trying to disturb our movement.
The protestors demanded the restoration of peace from the bloodshed by non-indigenous against the indigenous, implementation of NRC, resettlement of inmates in their home town, no separate administration, abolishing narco-terrorists from Manipur, and crime against women and children should be stopped.
It may be mentioned that the ongoing crisis which was unfolded on May 3 has completed five months today.
