A large protest rally took place in Jiribam District, Manipur, on June 26, with numerous women from various localities gathered to demand the restoration of peace in the region. Organized by a coalition of local organizations, the rally highlighted the community's urgent call for action amid ongoing unrest.

The coalition, which includes LEECHING, AJUCA, JDO, WMC Jiribam District Committee, AJMP, JIMPAL, JIMWAK, WWOK, WASED, and LWW, initiated the rally at Jiribam Ima Keithel Market area around 11:00 am. The march proceeded through the district and concluded at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Chingdong Leikai.

The protesters presented a series of demands, emphasizing the need for immediate deployment of state security forces to the Borobekra Sub-division. They also called for the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their homes, the reconstruction of houses destroyed in recent conflicts, and the overall restoration of peace in Jiribam.

“The situation has become unbearable. We want our homes back, and we want to live in peace,” one protester said, reflecting the sentiments of many who participated in the rally.

The event served as a powerful demonstration of the local community’s concerns and their unified call for authorities to address the ongoing issues. The rally underscored the collective anxiety for safety and well-being among residents.

A joint memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam, urging immediate and decisive action to restore peace and tranquility in the district. The document outlined the community’s demands and stressed the importance of swift governmental intervention to stabilize the region.
