Massive protest rally in Manipur's Churachandpur demanding separate administration

A massive protest rally took place in Manipur’s Churachandpur after a disturbing video of two women being paraded naked by a mob surfaced a day ago. 

More than thousand people wearing black gathered at Public Ground in Churachandpur and took out a rally that ended at Peace Ground in Tuibong demanding separate administration.

Undeterred by the heavy downpour, protesters rallied through the streets holding banners that read, “Rally for separate administration”, “Please recognize our separation from Manipur”, “Too much tribal blood has flowed, separation only solution”. The even shouted slogans such as “We want total separation”, “Long live tribal unity” and “Biren government down down” among others.

The peaceful protest was carried out following the surfacing of the disturbing video that has rattled the entire nation. Several organizations, civil societies, political leaders and Bollywood condemned the incident, terming it an end of humanity.

Several leaders included Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh have urged for stringent punishment against the perpetrators.

The rally ended with the submission of a memorandum for Union Home Minister Amit Shah through the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur demanding action on the said demands.
