An ugly clash at the campus of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Shillong city of Meghalaya left several students injured.
The brawl reportedly took place at around 10 p.m. on Monday (September 18).
According to reports, the clash allegedly took place between students of two different communities at the university.
The clash reportedly broke out when a group of students allegedly surrounded students of Hostel 19 of the NEHU.
There are also reports of students pelting stones. On the otherhand, the windshields and windows of several cars sustained damage due to the stone pelting.

However, the situation was soon brought under control after the arrival of personnel and officials of the Mawkynroh police outpost in Shillong, Meghalaya.
On the otherhand, the students of Rangirra Hostel (Hostel No. 19) lodged an FIR with the Mawlai Police Station.
According to the FIR, the incident took place on September 18 at around 9:40 PM within the premises of Rangirra Hostel in Shillong.
Further, the FIR claimed that around 40-50 students who were residents of other hostels forcibly entered Hostel number 19 without any prior permission with the intention of causing harm to the occupants.
However, the situation further deteriorated when the students allegedly resorted to acts of vandalism, including breaking windows and hurling stones at the hostel students.
Further, the students also alleged that the attackers specially targeted non-Khasi students during the ordeal.
