Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, went Puja Pandal hopping on Monday to visit all the Pandals in and around Shillong city, while extending his wishes and greetings to the Hindu community celebrating Durga Puja.
During his Pandal hopping spree, the Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, RM Kurbah, the SP of East Khasi Hills, S Nongtynger, and members of the Central Puja Committee (CPC).
Durga Puja began on a joyous note across Meghalaya with people visiting various Puja pandals in and around the city.
The CPC informed that this year, there are 243 community and 11 private Durga Puja pandals in Meghalaya, including 123 in the Khasi Hills, 11 in the Jaintia Hills and 116 in the Garo Hills, totalling 250.
There are 64 community and eight private Durga Puja pandals in state capital Shillong.
One of CPC’s popular Dhak drum-beating competitions was won by the Rilbong Durga Puja Committee held at the Puja pandal of Rilbong Durga Puja committee, Shillong.
