Hundreds of protesters under the banner of the All Meghalaya Citizen Conscious Forum (AMCCF) marched through the streets of Shillong on Friday, decrying the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh.
The protest rally commenced at Mawbah Point and concluded at Rhino Point, with participants chanting slogans like “Bharat Mata ki Jai” to express solidarity with the oppressed minority communities and to denounce the actions of the Bangladesh government.
Raju Paul, convenor of the AMCCF, revealed plans to submit a memorandum to Muhammad Yunus, the interim head of Bangladesh's government and Nobel laureate economist, via the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills.

The memorandum highlights the forum's demands for immediate action to protect minorities in Bangladesh.
Paul condemned the ongoing violence against Hindus and other minorities, describing it as “inhumane” and unacceptable. The rally served as a strong statement of support for the vulnerable communities in Bangladesh who continue to face persecution.
The unrest in Bangladesh began with widespread student protests against a controversial quota system, ultimately leading to the ouster of Sheikh Hasina as Prime Minister earlier this year. Despite her departure, the violence against minorities has persisted, exacerbating tensions between India and Bangladesh.
The AMCCF urged international attention to address the ongoing crisis and called for robust measures to ensure the safety and dignity of all minority groups in Bangladesh.
