In a major setback for Mizo National Front (MNF), party chief and chief minister Zoramthanga is trailing by a huge margin in his constituency Aizawl East - I. With ZPM all set to form government, the party has captured all key constituencies as early Christmas celebrations ring in.
Mizoram had its polls on November 7 and the counting of votes was initially planned to start on Sunday with the other four states. However, the Election Commission deferred the counting by a day due to the special significance of Sunday for the Christian-majority population in the state.

BJP candidate from Palak constituency K Hrahmo won the seat securing 6,064 and won by a margin of 1,241 votes. The saffron party is leading on one other seat.
It has been a clean sweep for Lalduhoma led ZPM party in Mizoram and a big blow for Mizo National Front (MNF) led by Chief Minister Zoramthanga as the final results of the Mizoram Assembly Elections have been declared. With several of key constituencies won by ZPM candidates, the party is now all set to form their government after a meet scheduled to be held on December 5 in Aizawl.
