In a major crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai, successfully intercepted a heroin consignment worth Rs 90.79 lakhs in Champhai district, Mizoram, on November 6, 2024. The operation led to the seizure of 129.7 grams of Heroin No. 4 and the apprehension of one individual, Lallianchhunga, a 49-year-old resident of Champhai.
The operation, based on specific intelligence, was executed by a joint team of Assam Rifles and the Excise and Narcotics Department. The contraband was cleverly concealed inside the vehicle's dashboard, in which the suspect was traveling. Following the recovery, both the drugs and the apprehended individual were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department, Champhai, for further legal action.
