Mizoram churches embrace eco-friendly practices during joyous Christmas feasts

Across Mizoram, Christmas community feasts were celebrated on Thursday with joy and positivity.

Churches prepared since morning, with community members volunteering to cook various dishes for the event.

Children enjoyed special programmes organized for them, adding to the festive spirit. In line with tradition, the feast included a section for relatives of the elderly and physically weak who could not attend.

Family members could register their names at a counter to receive food for free.

Responding to a request from the Mizoram Pollution Control Board, most churches stopped using disposable plastics for Christmas and New Year's feasts.

They switched to paper cups and steel plates, with some using banana leaves for serving food.

As previously mentioned, churches and communities across Mizoram held feasts today, with some planning to do so again tomorrow.

The New Year's community feast is scheduled for January 2, 2025.
