The duty post at District Jail, Armed Veng locality in Aizawl collapsed on May 28 amidst heavy rainfall across the state due to cyclone Remal.
Following the incident, a video surfaced showing the collapse of the post. The video was recorded by the sentry on duty.
The sentry told reporters that he escaped safely just on time.
Meanwhile, the Aizawl traffic police reported road blockages at 9 places within the city.
Earlier, a stone quarry collapsed in Aizawl’s Melthum and Hlimen border around 6 am on May 28, killing 14 workers.
In another incident, many individuals were feared trapped after a massive landslide took place at ITI and Salem localities border of Mizoram on the same day, in response to Cyclone Remal which made landfall across the state.
Search operation is underway to retrieve people and bodies trapped under the rubble.
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, on May 28, announced an ex-gratia of Rs 15 crore for the victims affected by the devastating landslide caused by Cyclone Remal. Additionally, the kin of those who lost their lives in the incident will receive Rs 4 lakh each.
