Mizoram narcotics department destroys illicit liquor worth over Rs 57 lakh

In a significant enforcement action, the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department destroyed illicit liquor valued at Rs 57,15,800 during a special event held at Bethani Multipurpose Farm in Phunchawng. The destruction was conducted under Rule 65(1) of the Mizoram Liquor (Prohibition) Rules, 2022.

At the "Destruction of Seized Liquor" program, the department disposed of a large quantity of confiscated alcohol, highlighting the state's ongoing efforts to curb illegal liquor activities. The destroyed liquor included:

4,522 bottles of 750 ml whisky, valued at Rs 36,17,600
120 bottles of 375 ml whisky, valued at Rs 42,000
648 bottles of 180 ml whisky, valued at Rs 97,200
492 bottles of 750 ml rum, valued at Rs 1,23,000
5,760 cans of 500 ml beer, valued at Rs 17,28,000
216 bottles of 750 ml champwine, valued at Rs 1,08,000

This decisive action underscores the department's commitment to enforcing prohibition laws and tackling the issue of illicit liquor in Mizoram.
