Mizoram observes 'Ek Ped Ma Ka Naam' and 'Plant4Mother' campaign

Mizoram's Social Welfare, Tribal Affairs, Women & Child Development Minister, Lalrinpuii, inaugurated the 'Ek Ped Ma Ka Naam and Plant4Mother Campaign' at Sakawrhmuituai Tlang, Sihphir on July 22. The event, a collaborative effort between the Women & Child Development and Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Departments, aims to promote environmental conservation and honor motherhood through tree planting initiatives.

Addressing attendees, Minister Lalrinpuii commended the collaborative efforts of the departments in organizing the campaign. She emphasized the vital role that trees and shrubs play in providing clean air and mitigating global warming. "Trees are not only a source of fresh air but are also crucial in preventing global warming," Lalrinpuii stated. She underscored the importance of inculcating a tree-planting culture among the public, viewing it as a legacy for future generations. She also called upon NGOs to join the government’s efforts in these environmental activities.

Lalzarmawii, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary of the Social Welfare, Tribal Affairs, Women & Child Development Department, highlighted a key initiative by the Ministry of Women & Child Development (MoWCD). She announced that by September, at least one tree seedling will be planted at every Anganwadi Center across Mizoram, reinforcing the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability and the welfare of mothers and children.
