In a press conference held in Aizawl on October 12, the leaders of Zo United, a newly-formed organization, articulated their commitment to pursuing a separate administration, citing the imperative need for the safety and security of the Zo people. Convenor Albert Renthlei, during this public address, also stated the ongoing political dialogue between the SoO group and the government, underscoring that their actions were in solidarity with the people.
The Zo United leaders revealed startling statistics, asserting that since the outbreak of violence, a staggering 203 villages have been razed by Meiteis, resulting in the destruction of 8,166 homes. Additionally, 266 churches and 94 church offices and quarters have been burned. The human cost of this turmoil stands at 142 lives lost, while more than 60,000 people find themselves internally displaced in neighboring states and metropolitan areas. The dire situation has necessitated the establishment of 168 relief camps, where 41 people have succumbed to various illnesses.
In a statement of purpose, Zo United outlined its primary objectives:

1. Zo United will serve as the apex body for communicating with the Government of Mizoram (GoM), the NGO Co-Ordination Committee of Mizoram, and all the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) within the state.
2. Zo United will coordinate with Inpis, Tribe Leaders, Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), and Kuki-Zomi-Hmar Council (Pherzawl & Jiribam) concerning relief and rehabilitation matters.
3. The organization will strive to foster unity among its constituent members, including Inpis, Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), and Kuki-Zomi-Hmar Council (Pherzawl & Jiribam) through confidence and trust-building initiatives.
4. Zo United will respect the autonomy of its constituent members and refrain from interfering in their internal affairs unless explicitly invited to do so.
5. In addressing common issues that affect collective interests, Zo United will monitor and coordinate the activities of its coordinating bodies.
6. On other matters, Zo United will consult with its coordinating bodies, Suspension of Operation (SoO) Groups, and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs).
7. The organization aims to foster relationships with various civil society organizations of other communities, government entities, and non-government organizations to advance its common causes.
8. The name or platform of Zo United shall not be used without the knowledge and consent of its Executive Body.
9. The term and tenure of the Executive Body of Zo United shall be one year from the date of formation.
