Centre Agreeing to NSCN (IM)'s Demands 'In Principle'?talks

Guwahati, October 31, 2019:

Talks between the Isaak Muivah faction of the NSCN and the Centre has ended on a 'positive note', with the Government agreeing to the militant outfit's demands "in principle". According to sources, the usage of the Naga Flag has also been granted by Govt of India with "certain conditions".

Meanwhile, sources have revealed that the integration of Naga inhabited areas in Assam, Arunachal, Manipur to be resolved by democratic/political process soon.

Manipur BJP's Congtham Bijoy said, "There is no way that a comprehensive solution can be announced today, the term greater Nagaland is a very complicated issue with a dozen more stakeholders".

It seem like RN Ravi has been giving press briefings about greater Nagaland but the core committee of BJP has completely kept the matter and what has been discussed a secret.

Apparently, RN Ravi has been given the responsibility of trial and error which is also very important because it seemed like the Government has been observing the public reaction with differing statements. The Home Minister Amit Shah on his recent visit promised that the territorial integrity of the Manipur will not be compromised.

A source told Inside Northeast, "One of the integral precedent of the greater Nagaland that the NSCN IM has been using is the 'ancestral land', a vague term which divides the state of Manipur into Naga areas and Meitei areas. However, the ancestral lands also includes many areas inhabited by the Kukis. So there can be no greater Nagaland like an archipelago on an ocean. It will be like announcing Manipur basti as part of a greater Manipur state inside Guwahati."

The source further added that the most important take away part of the ongoing talks is what will be the actual solution/solutions which can appease all stake holders. It seems like the ruling BJP is also very serious about ending the 18 year old Naga peace process initiated by the then Government of India considering the cost that the peace process has incurred, both financially and logistically.

"The Government will have to come up with a solution considering the autonomy of the Naga inhabited areas because the Naga armed struggle has gone on for far too long. And any solution will be very sensitive towards one or the other stakeholders involved in this peace talk", the source added.
