The minister has asked the Mon district administration to be fully prepared to act against illegal immigrants.

The Committee on Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Nagaland in its report recommended that the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) will be the master list of all indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland after an extensive survey conducted with the help of village and ward wise list of indigenous inhabitants based on official records.

The list will be published in the respective villages and wards which will then be authenticated by village and ward authorities.

After the publication of the provisional lists, a period of 30 days will be given for claims and objections.

Every indigenous inhabitant of the state, whose names are included in the RIIN will also be issued Indigenous Inhabitants Certificates with barcodes.

By introducing this, the government will use to authenticate whether a person is an Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland. If a person is officially recognized as Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland he/she can apply for jobs, scholarships and other facilities provided by the Government. Under the Indian Act, status Indians, also known as registered Indians, may be eligible for a range of benefits, rights, programs and services offered by the federal and provincial or territorial governments.
