Northeast Indian leaders from across the political aisle paid homage to former President, APJ Abdul Kalam, on his birth anniversary today.

Arunachal Chief Minister, paying his homage to the departed leader on Twitter, Khandu stated that Kalam was "an embodiment of compassion, wisdom and strength" and wan an inspiration to the entire nation.

Paying tribute to the Bharat Ratna, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal wrote on Twitter that Kalam, through his words and works, has inspired millions across the globe to believe in their dreams.

Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju also wrote that he is joining the entire nation in remembering the former President on the occasion of his birthday.

Paying his tribute to the 'Missile Man' of India on Twitter, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh wrote that Kalam great scientist, scholar & humanist. "His teachings and vision to take the nation on the path of development & prosperity will always be remembered", N Biren Singh wrote.

Paying his "humble" tributes to eminent Scientist, Bharta Ratna awardee, Former President of India and Missile man Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary, Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb wrote that his life stands as an inspiration to us all.

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was an aerospace scientist who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu and studied physics and aerospace engineering.
