An inter-ministerial Central team, led by the Joint Secretary (Freedom Fighters & Rehabilitation Division) from the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, Anant Kishore Saran arrived in Nagaland to assess damage caused by landslides and floods during this year's monsoon season.
The team leader, on Wednesday, along with MS Saravana Kumar (Superintending Engineer, Ministry of Jal Shakti), Adelbert Susngi (Superintending Engineer, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways), Ranjana Saini (Assistant Director, Ministry of Rural Development), and Atul Bamnai (Section Officer, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance) visited Zunheboto Town's landslide-affected areas.
A joint meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall with the Zunheboto District Disaster Management Authority and various departments. The district authority and departments presented on landslide-affected areas under Zunheboto District, highlighting difficulties faced by affected households and damaged properties.
Following the meeting, the Central team conducted a spot assessment in all landslide-affected areas at Alahuto Ward No. 5, Zunheboto Town, Nagaland, recording affected landslides and the situation's gravity.
Wherein, six houses were completely damaged, and approach roads were severely damaged due to soil erosion and massive landslides in July.
The team was assisted by Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Vikheshe Aye, Councillor and Chairman, Ward Disaster Management Authority(WDMA) and others.
Meanwhile, the affected victims presented their grievances to the Central team and district administration. The Central team inspected all landslide areas, noted affected public properties, and assured remedial measures for public safety and resolution of the landslide crisis.
