Congress MP Rahul Gandhi while reacting on BJP calling Congress and the Gandhi family as "anti-Hindu" said that he never tries to take advantage of his religion as he has no interest in doing so.
Addressing the media on January 16 during his Nagaland leg of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi said, "...Someone who actually believes in religion keeps a personal relation with it. He uses religion in his life. Those who keep a public relation with religion, try to take advantage of it. I do not try to take advantage of my religion, I have no interest".

On his take on religion and the principles that he follows, Rahul Gandhi said, "I try to live as per the principles of religion. I behave nicely with people, and I respect them. When someone says something to me, I don't respond with arrogance, I listen to them. I don't spread hatred. For me, this is the Hindu religion. I follow this in life. But I don't need to wear it over my shirt. Those who do not believe in it, need to wear it over their shirt."
Speaking on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi while addressing a press conference in Kohima, Nagaland said that INDIA alliance is placed very well in taking on the BJP in 2024. "The Yatra is an ideological Yatra, it is designed to place certain issues on the table - frankly to place on the table a huge amount of injustice that is taking place in this country".
