It is said “a picture speaks a thousand words”, and so it has. Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander, Abhinandan Varthaman has been reunited with his family on Saturday at New Delhi in presence of Indian Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman in RR Military Hospital where he has undergone medical check-up after his release.

The pictures of the IAF Wing Commander along with his family have quickly spread on social media platforms where netizens of India and around the world are congratulating the Commander and his family for his safe return.
Defence Minister Sitharaman tweeted: “Proud of you Wing Commander #AbhinandanVarthaman. The entire nation appreciates your valour and grit. You held your calm in the face of adversity. You are an inspiration to our youth. Salute. Vande Mataram.”
It may be mentioned that IAF Wing Commander had been arrested by Pakistan Army on February 27 as his MiG-21 crashed on the Pakistan side of the Line of Control. He was released from Pakistan on Friday night within 48 hours of his arrest as a “gesture of peace”. He was received by the Indian Air Force and India Army jointly at the Wagah Border and set foot on Indian soil at 7:15 pm on Friday.
