As the entire nation is deep in concern over the fate of captured IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman who remains in Pakistan custody, the BJP Government continues to 'electorally exploIt' the 'surgical strikes' in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir as a means of gathering more votes for the upcoming elections. BJP banners bearing the words 'Surgical Strike 2.0' have been plastered all over Uttar Pradesh in reference to the IAF’s attacks on Balakot where terror camps belonging to the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist group were bombed.
Large banners and posters have come up in the Muzaffarnagar area giving credit to Prime Minister Modi for the 'victory' over Pakistan in the state which is expected to go to polls in less than four months.
From these banners and posters used by the BJP party for celebrating of success by the BJP party in UP, it is evident that the BJP Government is celebrating the strikes as a victory for the BJP party and using it to promote the party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Because of this approach, the Narendra Modi-led BJP Government is coming under increasing pressure from opposition parties who have slammed the administration for its “politicization of the sacrifices of armed forces”.
While the situation continues to escalate along at the LoC with Pakistani forces violating ceasefire again today, the Government’s ‘celebrations’ come too early as people in the Northern parts of India are living in terror of being terrorists as there have been murmurs of Jaish sleeper cells. Moreover, 7 Indian cities are being put on ‘highest terror alert’ and if reports are to be believed, it is unlikely that the situation will return to ‘normal’ anytime soon.
Meanwhile, while Pakistan has released the video of a captured IAF pilot, Abhinandan Varthaman, who is in the enemy country’s custody, the Modi Government has continued celebrating the ‘success’ of the strikes on the terror bases as it is very significant from the posters
Despite preaching peace and unity, the administration has so far refused to listen to the voices of the people, who are more concerned about the threat of terrorism than the upcoming election and promises of ‘achche din’ of the Government and are instead celebrating by pasting banners and posters hailing its victories on the streets of UP.
