Kamal Haasan says "first terrorist of free India" was a Hindu

Guwahati, May 13, 2019:

Makkal Needhi Maiyam founder and actor Kamal Haasan stoked controversy by commenting that free India's first "terrorist was a Hindu", referring to Nathuram Godse, who killed Mahatma Gandhi while addressing an election campaign here on Sunday night.

Kamal Haasan while addressing a campaign rally stated he is a 'proud Indian' who desires an India with equality and where the 'three colors' in the tricolor, an obvious reference to different faiths, "remained intact."

Haasan, addressing the people before a statue of Gandhi, said, “Free India's first terrorist was a Hindu, his name is Nathuram Godse. There it starts.”

Haasan mentioned that he had gone there seeking answers for that murder, referring to Gandhi's assassination in 1948. He also claimed himself to be the “great-grandson" of Gandhi.

He further added that the good Indians desire for equality and want the three colors in the tricolor to remain intact. “I am a good Indian, will proudly proclaim that," he added.

Meanwhile, many reactions have been in the counter of the comment came after from both politic and film industry claiming that terrorism has no religion.
