New Delhi, May 30, 2019:

'Modern-day Chanakya'Amit Shah, who won the Lok Sabha Election from the Gandhinagar Constituency, as joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet for the first time.

This means the former BJP President Shah will assume a new role after becoming the most successful BJP President as the saffron party was able to won consecutive elections for the first time in its history.

The "modern-day Chanakya" was sworn in for the first time as a cabinet minister and it remains to be seen who will be sworn in as BJP President once Shah assumes his role as a Union Minister.

Shah is most likely to be given the Finance portfolio, which was earlier with Arun Jaitley, who on Wednesday urged Modi to keep him out of the ministry on health grounds.

Shah campaigned relentlessly for the party which was able to win 303 seats in the election by itself, crossing the 'magic number' of 272 seats by a mega margin.

Meanwhile, high-profile BJP leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani, and Natin Gadkari also swore in as Union Ministers.
