New Delhi, March 21, 2020:

Several high-profile Indian politicians are reportedly concerned after they had come in close proximity to COVID-19 tested positive songstress Kanika Kapoor, who apparently picked up the strand in London, UK, which has been hit badly by the outbreak. Surprisingly, Indian President Ramnath Kovind too shall be tested as per standard protocol

Kapoor, after coming from the UK, had attended parties during which she was seen hobnobbing with the who's who of the political world.

Kanika Kapoor attended a party in Lucknow after returning from London last week. Several pictures from the party have gone viral on the internet. Kapoor did not inform the authorities about her travel history when concerns about the COVID-19 first started surfacing.

The party attended by Kapoor was hosted at Adil Ahmad’s home, the nephew of BSP MP Akbar Ahmed Dumpy. Politician Vasundhara Raje and her son Dushyant were also seen attending the party. UP Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh also attended the party.

President Ram Nath Kovind had on March 18 hosted the Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan MPs for breakfast at Rashtrapati Bhavan. It was also attended by BJP's Dushyant Singh who on Friday announced that he was self-isolating himself after attending a party with the 'Baby Doll' singer.

Kapoor's announcement left the world community shellshocked. Taking to Instagram, she wrote in a lengthy post, "For the past 4 days I have had signs of flu, I got myself tested and it came positive for Covid-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward. Contact mapping of people I have been in touch with is underway as well. I was scanned at the airport as per normal procedure 10days ago when I came back home, the symptoms have developed only 4 days ago.

At this stage I would like to urge you all to practice self isolation and get tested if you have the signs. I am feeling ok, like a normal flu and a mild fever, however we need to be sensible citizens at this time and think of all around us. We can get through this without panic only if we listen to the experts and our local, state and central government directives."

Based on the complaint filed the chief medical officer of Lucknow, an FIR was filed at the Sarojini Nagar police station under IPC Sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant). Two more FIRs will be filed at the Hazratganj and Gomtinagar Police Stations, as she had attended parties in the areas under their jurisdiction.
