Assam cabinet minister Ashok Singhal has targeted the Congress by saying that the party leaders have lost their minds. He further said that nobody in India can survive by opposing Lord Ram.
Speaking to reporters today, Singhal targeted the Congress over the row where they refused the invitation of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22.
Here, Singhal said that Congress has lost its mins with its opposition to the Ram Temple. He also said that they should realise their mistake while there is still time.
"Those who oppose Lord Ram & Ram temple don't understand Indian culture. Congress has lost its sense. Nobody can survive in the country by opposing Lord Ram. There is still time, they should realise their mistake," said Singhal.
Singhal's reaction comes in after Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury declined the invitation by the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Trust to attend the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. The Congress, in an earlier statement, said that the senior party leaders would not be attending the inauguration ceremony of the Ram Temple.
In an earlier letter, shared on its official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, Congress termed the mega consecration ceremony an "RSS/BJP event". However, the grand old party alleged that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have made the temple in Ayodhya a "political project".
Meanwhile, Singhal also claimed that he was himself a Karsewak back in 1990 when the Ram Temple movement was at its peak.
"A grand temple of Lord Ram is ready for inauguration. This is a turning point in the 500-year history of our country. I participated in Kar Sewa in 1990 during the Mulayam Singh govt when hundreds of Kar Sewaks were killed," said Singhal.
