A blast occurred near the Israeli embassy in Delhi on December 26 evening, prompting swift response from security forces and the local police. The incident unfolded around 5:08 pm in close proximity to the consulate building, as confirmed by the Israeli embassy spokesperson.
"We can confirm that around 5:08 pm there was a blast in close proximity to the embassy. The Delhi police and the security team are still investigating the situation," stated the embassy's spokesperson.
The Delhi Police received an alert about the blast behind the embassy, situated in the Chanakyapuri area, a diplomatic neighborhood in the national capital. The call reporting the blast was made by an unidentified individual to the Delhi Fire Service around 6 pm.
A specialized team, including the bomb squad, promptly arrived at the scene for a thorough inspection. Fortunately, the Delhi Fire Department chief reported that nothing suspicious was found during the examination.
Eyewitnesses described the incident as a sudden and deafening explosion. One witness on duty at the time shared, "This happened around 5 pm, I was on my duty and heard a loud sound. When I came out, I saw smoke billowing from the top of a tree, that's all I saw...Police have taken my statement..."
