Himanta Biswa Sarma asks Ashok Gehlot not to contest elections until farmers' loan gets waived off

The political temperature is rising as Rajasthan gears up for assembly elections, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launching a scathing attack on Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and the Congress party. Delivering speech at a public rally in Jodhpur on September 20, Sarma called upon Gehlot to refrain from contesting the elections until farmers' loans in the state are waived off.

"I would request Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot to not contest elections until farmers' loans get waived off...Even after being in politics for so long, if you can't earn virtue, don't do sins," asserted Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma during his address, drawing loud cheers from the gathered crowd.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is eyeing a return to power in Rajasthan, has intensified its criticism of the Congress-led government. Several BJP leaders have been making visits to the state for the upcoming elections.

Earlier in the day, Sarma did not mince words as he accused Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot of theatrics, particularly in showcasing development and relief measures for the underprivileged. "Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot should stop the drama of showcasing development and relief terms for the poor and apologize. Look at the National Crime Record data; Rajasthan is leading in crimes against women. It's competing for the top position in this unfortunate statistic, along with Karnataka," Sarma stated.
