Himanta Biswa Sarma pushes for Ho language inclusion in Constitution's 8th Schedule

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government will make every effort to include the Ho language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution. 

This move is aimed at recognizing and promoting the language spoken by the Ho tribal community.

In his statement, Sarma also accused the Congress party of being anti-tribal. His comments were made in the context of ongoing political discussions and efforts to address tribal issues in the region ahead of the Assembly election.

Additionally, Sarma mentioned that colleagues in Chaibasa, who were initially considering contesting the elections separately, are now withdrawing their nominations. 

This indicates a consolidation of support and unity within the party ranks ahead of the elections.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also criticised the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress for overlooking their party workers in certain constituencies of Jharkhand. 

According to Sarma, the two parties have awarded election tickets to individuals not associated with their organisations.

In contrast, Sarma highlighted the BJP's approach, stating that the party has chosen candidates who are actively involved with the BJP. He emphasised that the selection process prioritised the candidates' capability and ideology over their financial status or family background.

Sarma's remarks come ahead of the upcoming elections in Jharkhand, where the BJP is keen on strengthening its position by fielding candidates who align with the party's principles.
