Kerala Governor Arif Khan stages protest as SFI members wave black flags at him in Kollam

The Governor of Kerala, Arif Mohammed Khan, took an unexpected stand on Saturday, stepping out of his car and sitting in front of a roadside shop to demand the arrest of Student Federation of India (SFI) activists.

The protest happened in Nilamel district, where the activists demonstrated against the Governor waving black flags at him. Taking a chair from the shop, Khan sat on the busy MC Road, demanding action against the protesters. He was seen instructing the local police to arrest the agitators, expressing his intent to stay until action was taken.

The protestors, members of the ruling CPI(M)'s student wing, staged a black flag protest against the Governor while he was en-route to Kottarakkara for an event.

This incident further evidences the ongoing tension between Khan and the Left government, particularly regarding the functioning of state universities and his decision not to sign certain bills passed by the assembly.
