Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024: Arunachal teacher questions PM Modi over importance of sports and outdoor activities for students

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a live session on 'Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024' on January 29 said that the habit of sitting in the sunlight and engaging in outdoor activities should be added in the daily routine of the students.

In response to a question asked by a Government High School Teacher from Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh with regards to the importance of sports and outdoor activities for the well-being of the students, PM Modi taking the example of the mobile phone said that one needs to recharge their bodies while preparing for exams and thus engage in outdoor activities.

"Many of you students would be using mobile phones. There would be some people who would have got used to mobile phones for hours... Things like mobile which we see everyday can also be charged. It has to be done. If the mobile has to be done, then should this body do it or not?"

Prime Minister Modi emphasised the importance of physical health during exams, highlighting that a strong body is essential for enduring the three-hour exam duration. He draws an analogy with charging a mobile phone, urging students to recognise the need to recharge their bodies through proper care and maintenance.

Prime Minister Modi also advised the students to cultivate the habit of spending time in sunlight daily, emphasising its role in recharging the body. He encouraged students to incorporate outdoor activities, such as reading in the sunlight, into their routine for overall well-being.

PM Modi also emphasised the importance of sound sleep for students, cautioning against excessive use of mobile phones before bedtime. He acknowledges individual differences in sleep requirements but highlights the significance of adequate, undisturbed sleep for overall well-being.

'I have a lot of work, probably not as much as you,' Modi laughs. "I sleep within 30 minutes of lying down. When I am awake, I am awake and when I have to sleep, I quickly sleep without distractions," added PM Modi.
